OSPF LSA’s

As I prep for the CCNP exam, I’ve been diving deep into OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), which is one of the most critical routing protocols in network engineering. Whether you’re a CCNA looking to level up or you’re like me, working toward your CCNP, mastering OSPF is essential.

OSPF uses LSAs or Link State Advertisements to share network topology, with different types handling various tasks. Lets walk through some of them as well as their purpose.

Type 1 Link State Advertisements

On Cisco devices type 1 LSA information is stored in the LSDB or the Link State Database. To view the information related to this we use the following command.

show ip ospf database router

In our topology when we run this command we get the following output
